A Note from Laurie

First, I just want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who replied to last week’s email. Reading your sweet notes and hearing how those words blessed you meant more to me than you know!

I’ll be honest, though...after seeing so many responses, a tiny voice in my head whispered, “Oh boy, now the pressure is on to write something even better this week!”

Isn't that just how we are in life sometimes?

We fall into this sneaky trap of feeling like every step has to "outdo" the last one. We feel it in our daily routines, our work, and certainly at the easel...this unspoken pressure that our next painting has to be a masterpiece, bigger and better than the one before it.

It is exhausting to live that way.

Sometimes a painting is just a painting. It might not look like a masterpiece on the outside, but the real work...the real beauty...was what happened in our hearts while we were creating it.

Life isn't a continuous ladder of "leveling up."

It's made of ordinary, everyday moments. It's about finding joy in the simple journey, accepting where we are right now, and honoring what we were designed for.

Everyday life...whether it feels mundane or extra special...is what makes us who we are.

We don't need to measure today against the last big thing we did and feel like it wasn't enough.

So if you’re feeling the pressure to "outdo" yourself or hit some invisible standard this week, take a deep breath with me and let it go.

You don't have to prove anything.

Just show up, enjoy where you are on the canvas of your life today, and let that be more than enough!

"Lord, my heart is meek before you.I don’t consider myself better than others. I’m content to not pursue matters that are over my head—such as your complex mysteries and wonders—that I’m not yet ready to understand.

I am humbled and quieted in your presence.Like a contented child who rests on its mother’s lap, I’m your resting child and my soul is content in you.

O people of God, your time has come to quietly trust, waiting upon the Lord now and forever."

With much love and paint!
